Addition of Audio and Narration in FCP
.
Following successful editing and final rendering of video footage, audio can be added to the project by employing a microphone and the popular voice recording software “Audacity” or the innate FCP audio recording software. In the interest of simplicity, it is suggested that the external, “Audacity” be employed. In Audacity, simply record the desired dialogue and export the file (FCP recognizes most audio files, including .mp3). Return to FCP and import the audio files into the timeline using the import audio files command (again, under the main FCP toolbar). These audio files may then be dragged across the time line to correspond with the action taking place in the edited video. It is recommended that audio be recorded in small segments, rather than one continuous stream to avoid timing irregularities.
