Once clips have been edited in the Canvas Window, they may be selected and dragged into the timeline window for the detailed and precise final round of editing, using the same commands as previous. When the clips enter the timeline window, a red bar may appear above the footage; this represents that the footage must be rendered in order to view the edited footage in the right most window (the preview window). This phenomenon will occur with the addition of any after-effect, such as the 3D plug-in, transitions or additional graphic insertions such as word art. Rendering is achieved by pressing the command and “r” button simultaneously; this process can take a substantial amount of time, depending on the length of the clip.
